Living Arrows #16

Sometimes I take hundreds of photos of the boys and other times I barely take any. I decided that this year would be one where I try to capture a consistent about and document them more. It made sense then that I join in with Donna's linky, Living Arrows.

"Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
This week has been, yet again, another busy week for us.

I thought about quite a few things that I wanted to show you with the boys but this weekend turned out to show the boys at their best and to teach me a lesson too.

We visited a local event (post is love tomorrow) and it was a truly brilliant family day out and through the different activities it highlighted the boys individuality and growth.

It is quite easy to forget sometimes that the boys have a significant age gap. William is clearly short for his age (that's clearly my fault!) And James is clearly big for his age (he gets that from his mums side)

I think that it is easy to think otherwise when they're practically the same height. Yet William is 8 years old and James is still 5.

As mentioned above, the weekend highlighted this more.

William was chatting about the tractors and seemed quite interested in the different types. He showed a clear understanding and interest in them.

Then for fun and physically he was really keen on trying the archery out. Out of the children in our party he seemed to be the one old enough mentally and physically to really give it a go.

James had different ideas!

He was keen to look and touch the animals and learn that way.

For fun he was keen to get in and on the swing chair ride which, from an outside view, looked far too young and small for him but age wise was perfect!

I love that the boys are growing up and forming their own individual lives, wants and interests and I will always support them with that but I think I need to remember the age difference sometimes too!

  1. Sounds like a fun day out. I think its lovely that they develop their own likes and interests as it gives us as parents a bit of excitement and challenge haha! The age gap may seem big at the moment but I bet it won't when they are 18 and 21 ;) #livingarrows

  2. Beautiful photos of your boys. It's lovely to see their own personalities coming out and seeing what they are interested in. I'm finding it a lot with Alice at the moment. #LivingArrows

  3. Oh I have this problem too, I often give Lia the same things to do as Libby and I'm met with a blank look as there are many things she just doesn't understand that I think she does because she talks such a good game!
