Doing It Alone

The boys and I, over the last few days, have watched the dramatised version of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child.

I, personally, love the Gruffalo and have done since I came across the.book as a teacher many years ago now. Obviously since being a parent the enjoyment of these have grown.

We even went to a Gruffalo touring museum earlier this year.

So as we sat watching the Gruffalo William had a question "Daddy does the Gruffalo's Child live with his Daddy for half the week too?"

Well I had no answer straight away.

I said that I didn't know. We haven't seen his Mummy yet so we can't tell.

By the end of the film we knew that it was just the Gruffalo and his child. So I answered William and said I believe that the Gruffalo and his child is like myself and the boys.

Well you can all imagine how happy the boys, and me included, were to know that they're as cool as the Gruffalo. ☺

But when I re watched it in the evening  (yes I re watched it without the boys....come on don't pretend you don't watch children's Tv/Films by yourself)

I saw that Julia Donaldson has produced a modern family life because even the narrator, Mummy squirrel, was doing it alone.

So for all you single parents...I know it get hard but remember if the Gruffalo and the Squirrel can do it so can we!

Thanks for commenting! It's great the Gruffalo all this time has been fighting for dad's rights ;-) good on him he seems to be doing a good job.

This is outrageous!! They are my favourite children's books. Love them and I'm lucky the boys do too. I'm sure you'll love them. Julia Donaldson is amazing.
