My Little Chef - Pizza

William, as I am sure you're all aware by now, loves cooking and baking; he literally becomes the most focused and productive child ever!

Now if you remember a few months back William used the lovely Amy's Beef Stew Recipe as part of his Home School lesson. Since then he has become incredibly obsessed with Amy's blog! Most weeks he asks me "Can we look at the food blog and find something else to cook" and I'll be honest we do look occasionally and borrow a few of her lovely recipes; however, recently William has upped his requests for the "Food Blog". So after asking me if it had several of these ideas that he wanted to try I jumped on to Twitter and asked Amy if she had them; sadly she didn't have anything but did suggest Pizza.

I showed William the link and that was it he was off; in his words "I'm on it Daddy"

After going through the recipe with him, several times, he decided he wanted to do 'certain' things and from that he came up with these two ideas:

(All the ingredients and combinations are all Williams idea. Any alteration to the recipe was, again, down to what he wanted to do)

A Tomato, Cheese and Mushroom Pizza
and
A Tomato, Chicken and Sweetcorn

(He generally followed Amy's recipe which you can find here.)

William started by measuring the flour out and placed that with the yeast into a bowl. He them measured out the warm water and slowly mixed it in.

William started by using a spoon to mix the dough ingredients together, once the became more solid he used his hands to make it into a dough ball. He then got a damp cloth and covered it up for 2 hours.

William took this time to start prepping his other ingredients: he started by putting chicken legs in an oven tin. He covered them with oil, sprinkled and then rubbed salt and pepper into the skin.

He then squirted lemon juice over them and placed them in the oven for the guided cooking time.

He then got his chief Porter to wash the surfaces down and to wash up!
(They make a great team don't they?)

William continued to prepare the toppings: he grated cheese, sliced the mushrooms, drained the majority of a tin of tomatoes and, once it was cooked, shredded the chicken.

Still following, but adapting, the recipe he added the Balsamic Vinegar, and 2 pinches of Garlic granules to the tomatoes.

He then fried the Mushrooms and the Sweetcorn.

Daddy then, still following the instructions, rolled out the dough and pan fried it for 2 minutes each side.

(We found that the dough was enough for two small pizzas or for one large one; William chose to do one big one)

William then placed and spread the tomatoes mix over the top of the dough and placed all of his prepared ingredients on top; he decided to layer the cheese between to spread it out more.

Daddy then placed it in the oven for 20 minutes.

Here is Williams finished Pizza.

Williams Tips
  • Always have an adult with you when doing this.
  • Be careful when using the frying pan and always hold the handle.
  • You might need more mixture to make two large Pizza's
  • Wait for the chicken to cool down before shredding it.
  • If you add to much on top of the pizza it will take longer to cook in the middle.
  • Always wash the surfaces when using meat.
  • Eat and Enjoy!

As for your message to him. I read it to him and then showed him. He is over the moon you'd think that he'd just spoken to a celebrity. He's so smitten and obsessed with you lol. Enjoy the fame ;)
