Following William's Christmas dinner favourites where he first showed you his simple and tasty homemade Stuffing he wanted to show you his next; homemade Yorkshire Puddings.
This is something that always goes down well at our family Christmas dinner and although William initially followed my recipe he did make a slight tweak which actually made a big difference!
Ingredients
140g Self Raising Flour
4 Eggs
200ml Milk
Cooking Oil
Water.
William started by placing about half a centimetre of oil, alternatively 2 tablespoons of oil, into a muffin tin and placing the tins in the oven to make the oil really hot; the oven was put on to 200c.
He then measured out 200ml of Milk carefully.
He then broke 4 Eggs into the milk and best them and the milk until the mixture was smooth.
William then measured out 140g of self raising flour and added it to his mixture and beat until it created a completely lump free batter mix.
If you are using a jug like ours you will find that there is about 50ml of space left. William filled this to the top with cold water. Alternatively you could add 50 ml of water to the mixture.
He then placed the mixture into the fridge for 30 Minutes.
By now the oil in the muffin tins should be sizzling hot so it is best to let an adult do the next part.
Taking the batter mix out of the fridge pour carefully but quickly the batter into the muffin tins with the aim to fill just above the oil.
Place the tins back into the oven for 25 minutes.
When ready take the risen Yorkshire Puddings out of the oven and place ready to serve.
As you can see they do rise really well and you end up getting massive Yorkshire Puddings for all to enjoy.
Williams Tips
- Make sure that the oil is really hot before placing the batter in the tins
- Adding the water will thin the mixture enough to stop the batter being too heavy (This was totally his idea!!)
- Always allow an adult to handle the hot tins and oil!
- You may be keen to open the over door when you see them rising but DON'T!
- These ingredients make 14 Yorkshire Pudding you may want to half the ingredients if you want to make less!
It only takes 10 minutes preparation and is a great activity for children to help with where it is so straightforward?
What do you think? Do you make your own Yorkshire Puddings or do you buy ready made? And, Do you like they idea of them being so big?

I buy ready made Yorkshire Puddings....I can never get mine to rise!
I am so jealous that William, a child can make better Yorkshire Puddings than me. lol You have a chef in the making there!
Ha! Sorry Kim! He is so good with all of this! Like his idea to add water to stop the batter being too thick! I didn't think of that! He's putting us to shame! ;)
Maybe you should try this after Christmas!
I love Yorkshire puddings I'm so glad I now make free from milk and gluten ones because I missed them so much! Look at him in his chefs whites!! X
