Picture the scene.
Socially anxious guy with muscular dystrophy stuck in a
crowd of people pushing each other whilst floods of more people join the ever
growing group. With every nudge, bump and push the guy squeezes hard onto his
walking stick to brace himself just to survive and constantly questioning why
he was there in the first place.
This was me on Black Friday last year. I don’t know what I
was thinking. I was caught and surrounded by people wanting to get the cheapest
prices on the most desired items; people who were tired from staying up late
purchasing items online or those who were desperate because the time was
ticking round and they have to get the MUST have items on their list.
I started questioning why I was there the second I got out
of the car after queuing to park for 40 minutes. This thought continued to be prominent
in my mind once I hit the shopping complex and when I was in the store trying
to collect what I had reserved.
I knew what the day was. I knew that in the 2014 sales
police forces were called to stores across Britain to deal with crowd control
issues, assaults, threatening customers and traffic issues and that it remained
the busiest and biggest earning shopping day in the run up to Christmas. Yet, I
had a mission; I had to get one item.
My brother is always a difficult person to buy presents for.
He likes specific items and usually, when it comes to clothing, designer
labels.
We, as a family, are not the type of family that must get
the most expensive present and it is usually the thought that matters behind
the gift. Yet, this is always difficult when it comes to purchasing towards a
person who wants designer label products. This, therefore, is why I had
ventured into the depths of shopping hell.
Black Friday is only 3 days away and the 24 hours of deals
restarts and the competitive stance and extreme money spending will begin.
This year, however, I have decided that I will still try and
go for something that matches his love for Lacoste design
and thought that I would try online retailers like Love the Sales and see what Black Friday deals
they have available. With this in mind, it would allow me to possibly still get
cheaper rates on items and at the same time not make the mistake of going to the
shopping centres and entering the fight.
I think with more and more shops trying to undercut everyone
there are plenty of deals to be made out there so really have a good look
around for different deals available but try and not get so competitive.
With an estimated £2bn spent in previous years it is a sign
that people really want to spend and please their loved ones but doing so in a
safe, kind and non-aggressive way (especially if it is online and in the safety
of your own own) is the best thing for anyone else, like me in a vulnerable position.
If that doesn’t work then get something else! I am sure they
will love anything they get. For me, I might just be getting a green sharpie
and drawing a label on if I am unsuccessful ;)Via Love the Sales (This was a sponsored post. My opinions are my own and I am under no obligations to give a positive review or alignment. Please see my full disclosure at the bottom of my blog)
