Teddy Bears Picnic 2017

As you might have seen throughout this last year the Church, St Bartholomew's Bobbing, that the boys and I attend have family themed events that are also open for the local community. One that was very popular previous years was our Teddy Bears Picnic. So once again we held one; I decided to have some fun and do the post on the Teddy Bear Picnic song.

1. If you go down to the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down to the woods today
You'd better go in disguise!

Well, it is always a surprise with my 2! You never really know what you will get with them; cheeky, sweet, helpful or full of the devil it is like a game of Russian roulette.

2. For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain,
Because today's the day the
Teddy Bears have their picnic
.

My two lovelies brought their favourite teddies. William had his Polar Bear called Don't Know (He really didn't know what he was called and it kind of stuck!) James had his fluffy, one eared, Dog called Charlie.

Lots of the children brought bears but we did have a well!

3. Picnic time for Teddy Bears
The little Teddy Bears are having
A lovely time today.
 Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.

With the Church service over we headed to the hall where we had space indoors to have a blanket out and eat but we decided to sit outside at the benches and eat. The Boys loved this; which little child doesn't any sitting outside and stuffing their faces with packed lunch picnic food?

4. See them gaily gad about.
They love to play and shout,
They never have any care;

Now it was time for some games and activities!

The boys started off by decorating their bear biscuits.

Then it was time for games and the first being a race. The children had to run to the end table and butter bread, then add jam and then cut in the middle before tagging their team.

There were also little coloured bears scattered around the woods that the children had to run around and collect. James loved this but William didn't; William is so competitive that he was rushing to find some whilst others had gathered 4+ until they had all been collected! There were a few tears!

There was even a quiz for the adults which I won! Woop!

To finish the games and picnic we even had a lovely bear cake to cut into.

5. At six o'clock their Mommies and Daddies
Will take them home to bed,
Because they're tired little Teddy Bears

This really was a fabulous family event and it had Mums, Dads and even Grandparents joining in, sharing food and playing games; everyone was welcome and everyone was getting involved. To end the lovely day the children all gathered around on stumps within the woods and heard a story.

We has a fantastic time and it is always great to see so many people coming along and having fun. Although, I will add, that we didn't leave with tired little Teddy bears!! Well mine at least seemed rather full or energy!

Haha loving the new post style! I guess if you're cutting and pasting a nursery rhyme there's less for me to proof read too. Looks like a fun day out.
