Review: Staying Hydrated this Summer

The summer holidays are here and for us that means working on summer projects and getting out as much as possible.
For many parents there is a solid period of time where we are trying to find fun and engaging activities and to make the most of the sunshine.
We, in this house, are no different!
However, we seem to always be on the go and with that we seem quite tired and strained at times.
I tend to go for the three fundamental things to keep my going:

• Eating Healthily
•Sleeping
•Drink Plenty
Regular readers will know that we, as a family, eat well. We source and find the best ingredients to offer healthy but balanced diets and with William at the helm being “My Little Chef” we end up getting lots of delicious meals to keep us going like Peppers stuffed with Bolognese which was lined with lots of vegetables or a wonderful Squid Stir fry.
Sleeping was the difficult but for me.
Despite some days feeling both mentally and physically drained I must admit that once I was in bed my brain was still on “alert”. I am unsure if this the mental mind-set that you create in the summer when you are planning different ways to keep the kids entertained or not but I was always wishing for an early night and still going to bed at my standard late hour. However, I was aware that I needed more rest time so I made sure I took time away from work and the blog and had some rest to fully recuperate.
We are big fans of drinking water in our house but sometimes, despite the natural goodness, we sort other ways to boost our energy with liquids.
My aim this summer is not only to get the boys drinking more water whilst we are out but more when we are at home; especially before bed.
Apparently drinking a cold glass of water before bed promotes sleep, which is just one of the many water health benefits. In doing so, your body is able to stabilise its hormone levels as well as its vitamin and nutrient levels. Joints and muscles also become balanced in this process, another of the many water benefits. Having water before bed allows the body to restore itself naturally. The cool water will allow your body to relax instead of working harder to replenish you with necessary nutrients. By doing so, you are provided with a full night of rest. Drink more water, and wake up feeling better rested and more alert throughout your day.
This seemed perfect, therefore, to meet 2 of my 3 things to keep me going.
I did however have a worry how to convince the boys to do this. That was until MIU Color offered us some fabulous glass bottles to review!

Each of the MIU COLOR bottles are handmade from borosilicate glass. They have the gold standard for safe, environmentally-friendly glassware. It's ultra-clear, durable, lightweight, and temperature resistant. The cap is made from high-quality stainless steel, and the inner ring from silicone. Free from BPA, lead, and other toxic chemicals, you can be sure that our bottles are healthy not only for you, but for our planet as well.
Sounds great doesn’t it? How could anyone not like the sound of that!
There is more:
Each of the, variety of different, silicone sleeves makes the glass easy to grip and supports a slip free worry.
The bottle is also 9 inches tall and can hold 18 fl oz. If, like me, you can go through several bottles of it a day and keep track of the water intake.
When we first unpacked the bottles we also has the accompanying cleaners to make sure that we can clean it to a high standard; something that I have always struggled with some of the plastic counter parts. I always seem to find they get a horrible smell inside and the cleaning is always difficult on the bottom rim. However, after using the cleaning tools I can assure you that neither of that happens here.
We have been successfully using these in the day and the boys, totally loving the personalisation of the colour sleeves, have been happily taking these to bed to have a small drink beforehand as well as through the night.
As a parent these are truly brilliant. The boys found them easy to carry, use and engage with. Personally, it made my water intake easier too. I found that I was filling and refilling the bottle a lot. Add to that the fact that I was placing it in the fridge and having a cool and cold glass of water before bed really helped my sleep.
Having tested it in the home the next was out. We wanted to go for a picnic and also take advantage of the lovely MIU blanket.

This multi-coloured blanket is perfect family size. The best feature is the ability to easily clean off the mess and spillage in addition to the waterproof bottom.

Once used it folds back and happily velcro back in shape.

We have loved using these products. The bottles are fantastic and the boys are happily and independently seeking to use it and it is helping our summer start off with a energized bang!
