My Little Chef - Toad in the Hole

One of the house hold favourites is Toad in the Hole; we absolutely love it. Saying this though it was only recently that I was in a Twitter conversation with people who had never tried it. On telling William this he was just as surprised as I was and his words: "I am on it"

Ingredients:

140g of Flour (William always chooses self raising; I don't know why)
4 Eggs
200ml of Milk
Oil

Sausages

Vegetables to accompany it.

Pre heat the oven and put around 3mm of oil in depending on the depth of the tin; place in the oven.

Measure out the Milk and then break your eggs and beat well.

Measure out the flour and gradually add it to the mixture, stirring well until you get a smooth creamy liquid. Add 10ml of water and then place it in the fridge.

Cook the Sausages.

William took this time to prepare and cook the accompanying vegetables: William wanted to use Mushrooms, Onions, Peas and Sweetcorn.

Time for Daddy to take over.

Place the cooked sausages in the hot tin, take the batter mix out of the fridge and poor immediately into the tin smothering the sausages. (Try to do this as quickly as possible not to cool the oil down)

Place back in the oven and leave it for 40 minutes to rise.

Take it out once golden.

Divide and share and add your accompanied vegetables.

Enjoy!

Ooh that looks lovely! I might have to make a veggie version soon, haven't had that in ages! :)

It's great that you're teaching him our to cook. My oldest doesn't have interest in learning, which makes me worry about her, lol. I am going to get my youngest interested while she's still young, although she's still too young at this point.

Good job and good post.

Ah we haven't had this in ages, but that looks so yummy I am going to have to make it soon!
It's so great that he is so interested in cooking, it must be really lovely to spend that time in the kitchen together =)

Thanks Natalie! You should. We made the veggie one last time. But my poor old dad moaned about it. Lol

Thanks Brian. It was more of an accident with him. I had him at 2.5 by himself whilst his brother was in hospital and I needed a way to entertain him and cook. But he really took to it. Which is great. And he's not a bad little chef too. Quite often changes the recipe for what he wants. Ah that's a worry about your eldest. That's what I would suggest....get them interested whilst they're young.

Thanks. It really is. He's so passionate about it. And often changes to do what he wants. Great bonding for all of us.

You should make it soon! It was yummy!
