Every Little Helps!

The people closest to me will know of my dislike of Tesco's.

I haven't been a fan of the shop for many years and I think I have quite a bit of reason too.

I have had numerous disagreements with Mum's when I have parked in the Parent and Toddler Bays as the picture depicts a Woman and Child and for some reason I always seem to park next to the ignorant person who wants to prove a point. Although my parking skills and bad timing are not Tesco's problems I would like that this mega franchise would follow other stores lead and change the sign to something more universal.

Their flooring is atrocious. I completely get that they need to have easy access flooring that is also easy to clean especially if there is a spillage. Yet, for some reason Tesco's always seem to be more slippery than at other stores (I have no idea why) and for someone with mobility issues it is a nuisance.

This combined with other meaningless pet peeves (There is an extensive list) have always made me dislike the store; their motto of "Every little helps" seemed to always fall massively short for me.

This was until recently.

On moving to our new flat we have tried to come accustomed to the area and what is available. I am exceptionally lucky to have a small range of "On the doorstep" shops at the end of my road. Tesco's express is one of them.

For this last month I have tried to avoid it but the other little shops being a little more pricey didn't offer all that I wanted; this was it, I had to brace myself and go in Tesco's.

The boys and I walked in.

The three of us grabbed a basket each but at this point a shop assistant kindly said "Would you like me to get you a trolley?" after a brief explanation on why I cant walk and push one she kindly responded with "That's completely fine, I will push it for you"

This really took me by surprise. It was fab to see that she obviously saw a disabled Dad with two young children and thought that it was good to offer the help. She kindly followed us around and took us to the till.

How pleasant I thought. Yet, this still didn't change my view on the store.

After paying the cashier clerk then closed his till down, leaving only one person on the tills and insisted on taking the shopping out to the car and help it into the boot.

I have to admit I was completely taken back. This was possibly the first shopping experience that I have had that I didn't hate. Usually it is so much more stressful, especially when I have the boys with me, however much they "help".

There are still massive issues that I have with the brand but one thing has stood out that this local shop definitely likes to look after their customers. So for the time being I think I will put my dislike on a back burner and enjoy the fact that their little effort really did help.

Wow! Not one but two people prepared to go the extra mile. It's sad that such a thing is a rarity these days but you're clearly very blessed with the staff of your Tesco Express.
We spend a lot of time in Tesco Express because it's the supermarket closest to our home, but like you, I have a list of pet peeves. Mine is still growing!

It's great to hear they did this! I bet it really helped and also sets a good example to your boys :)

I know. I was quite taken back by it!! It is a shame that there isn't more of this happening as it would be great to see a service that works.
I have a feeling that many people have a list of peeves with them. Mine is growing but it has definitely made a difference to have that extra support for a change.

It was fab indeed. It made a difference to the three of us and definitely made our experience better. I hope that it set a good example to the boys as well.

Yikes, that sounds like the finest customer service on the planet. No way in hell in the states at some big chain store would you get this kind of service!

To be honest. I'm jut as surprised as you with it. We wouldn't normally get this treatment here either!

Oh wow that's fantastic! Says more about the staff than the company I think but that's wonderful to have such lovely people working there! xx
