With Christmas not far away there seems to be a lot of talk about all the food that we enjoy as part of our family dinner; even William and I have spoken a lot about it!
With this is mind we thought it best to share two of the recipes that we commonly have; the first being our homemade stuffing.
Ingredients
Sausage Meat
Slices of Bread
Apples
Onions
Mixed Herbs
Butter
Salt
Pepper
(Please note that we haven't put exact amount here to allow some room depending on family size and feeding)
Preheat the oven at 180o
(If stuffing and cooking with meat such as a Turkey please follow the recommended instructions)
William started by breaking up the slices of bread by and making small breadcrumbs into a bowl.
He then sliced the Onions thinly having individual pieces and sliced and cut the Apples into small cubes to add a slight crunch to it. William then added these to the bowl with the breadcrumbs.
William then added the Sausage Meat, Mixed Herbs, a pinch of Salt and Pepper to season and added a spoonful or Butter.
Getting his hands he mixed all of these ingredients together making sure that the Sausage meat was broken into small pieces and not all placed together.
Once all of the ingredients were evenly mixed he placed them in a baking tin, levelling the contents out flat. Place the tin in the top of the oven for 25 minutes (may take longer depending on the amount)
Depending on what we are cooking this is a great accompanying stuffing for Christmas day. I tend to either use this recipe to stuff a Turkey or Beef (we're doing both this year) and remove once the meat is cooked; however, this is also great to cook separately as we have today.
Great activity for children to help with in the run up to Christmas or to the dinner on the day. Small and simple steps that has the added enjoyment of being messy and super tasty at the end!
We will next look at a Williams Yorkshire Puddings and share his secret to his success with them!!
What are some of your staple parts to a Christmas dinner? Do you think you would give this recipe a go?

This looks yummy. Stuffing is a favourite in our house especially at Christmas. I've never made my own though. I should try this x
I love stuffing but I have never tried making my own. I didn't realise it was so easy to make. I already have my stuffing bought for Christmas but may have to try this after :)
It is yummy! Especially when it's actually stuffed! Totally try it and let us know what you think!
Oh it is really easy Kim and I think worth it. Tastes better in my opinion. If you do try it let us know!!
I normally cheat and add sausage meat to sage and onion stuffing (onion hating husband.....) but this looks simple. Cant wait until the stage where the hands don't go in the mouth EVERY baking session we do. Who knew the kid likes flour??
Boo for your onion hating husband. Of he hates it how can you use sage and onion stuffing?
This is simple. Great recipe for kids to join in with. Hahaha they grow out of that stage though! They move on to stealing pieces and eating dough!
