I have to admit that I have very few male friends and with
that even fewer friends that are Dads.
Since I started blogging I have made more Dad friends and to
be able to discuss parenting from a dad’s point of view has been great but it
is still a new and slightly awkward experience for me.
Blogging aside I can say that I don’t have any dads of
similar age that I am friends with. I do have my longest friendship and one of
my closest friends expecting a baby any day now but up to this point I have
been a bit of a lone wolf.
Baby and Toddler groups, Home Education groups and even on
the playground I seemed to be the elephant in the room. If I was ever lucky
enough to see and speak to a dad it became a weird experience.
I would strike up a conversation and with that hope and hope
some more that we could find some common ground but even then that was
difficult.
In short my experience of being around other dads and having
dad friends is pretty much non-existent. If I was asked if I have ever had a
play date with my boys and another dad then the answer would be easy, no. With this all in mind I was pleased to be contacted a few weeks ago about #Dadsplaydate
Dad’s play date is a daylong event held by Paladone who are one
of Europe’s leading designer, creator, innovator and distributor of wholesale
gifts. Over the last 22 years they’ve been supplying gifts, gadgets and toys to
customers in 77 countries.
So what is it all
about?
Their wish is to give Dads and their children a day to
remember for all the right reasons. It will be starting off with breakfast and
then to see where this mystery day takes us. What I do know is that this will
be perfect for us given the fact that I home school as this covers fun,
science, art and design, sociology and business studies.
That is as much as I know because the day is a bit of a
surprise!
Over the last 6 weeks they have been emailing clues and I
*think* I have worked them out…but saying that I still don’t know really what
we are doing!
These have been pictures, a puzzle, a video and logos all to
give us a clue of what is going on.
Here is a link to each week….can you work it out? (If you do
comment below, it might help us!)
Clue 1Clue 2
Clue 3
I will be posting pictures across social media for the day
so you can see what we are up to and I am sure you will hear all about it after
too!
