My Little Chef - Lasagne

We love lasagne and we used to have it quite regularly but we haven't for a while. William was apparently craving it and wanted to make it. Luckily we had the ingredients ready and off he went to make a delicious hearty meal.

Ingredients

400g Quorn Mince (or regular mince if you are not vegetarian)
1 Onion
Mushrooms
400g Can of Chopped Tomatoes
Mixed Herbs
Garlic (4 Cloves or a granules)
Lasagne Sheets
Cheese
White Sauce
Vegetable/Beef Stock

Method

We started by preheating the oven at 180c

William started by preparing the vegetables by cutting the Mushrooms, Onions into bite sized portions.

The Mushrooms and Onions were sliced thickly because he wanted some texture to dish.

William then added the Quorn mince, onions and mushrooms and fried them together.

Once the mixture had started to brown he added vegetable stock but if you are using meat you could add beef stock.

William then added the can of chopped tomatoes and continued to cook the ingredients until it started to simmer.

He then added the mixed herbs, some garlic granules and pepper so season.

Once cooked he placed half of the mix into the bottom of a dish and spread it flat.

This time William recruited James as his sous-chef and asked him to put a layer of pasta sheets onto op the mince and vegetable mix.

William then added half of the white sauce and spread it across the top of the pasta sheets. He then repeated these last steps again creating a 2 layered dish.

Each layer went mince, pasta and white sauce.

James was then back and placed grated cheese on top. There isn't a measurement for the amount of cheese as, in Williams words, "there shouldn't be an amount, it's cheese you should know when you've had enough!"

Once set and layered he placed the dish into the oven for 45 minutes to cook.

Once ready the cheese on top should be golden brown and the contents bubbling away.

Then cut and serve. You should be able to see the different layers once you cut into it.

This is a really easy dish to make with children. Simply making a bolognaise mix that is layered with sauce and cheese but at the end a super yummy family meal that everyone would enjoy.

Despite there being only 3 of us here we all had extra portions and finished the dish!

As always, William really enjoyed making this and he would love you to do the same! Let us know if you try it!
