Review - Nerf Hyperfire

We were very excited when we were asked recently to review the Nerf Hyperfire by Hasbro!

We, as a family, are a massive Nerf blasters fans having a range of the different products avaliable from the smaller blasters and even the bow and arrow ones! So to try a Hyperfire was perfect for us!

The Hyperfire is suitable for children aged 8+ and I wouldn't recommend children under the age of 8 to play with this without adult supervision (which I will explain later)

On opening the box you will find that there are no paper ties where everything is kept in place with folded cardboard. This is ideal for me as it saved the time with the boys being rather impatient and wanting to play!

Inside you will find the blaster, 25 Nerf foam darts and a drum loading clip. Interestingly the drum clip is different to the designs we have had before but the clip and mechanism is the same; we haven't tried it but I am guessing that both would fit, just don't take my word for it!

By inserting the Nerf dart into the firing clip, and putting it the correct direction as seen above, the spring motion allows it to load into the circular chamber.

They Hyperfire works differently to any other product that we previously owned. On top of the blaster you will find a white, extendable compartment. This is primarily used as a jam door and, as seen below, allows you to adjust any dart that may be stuck.

However, due to the quick firing action (unleashing 5 darts per second) it makes itself unique. This is due to the conveyor belt design, as seen below, where most of our other products need to be pumped which, up to now, has been difficult for the boys to use.

To work the conveyor belt you do need to put the required 4 D batteries in (which are not included) but with new batteries the firing action works brilliantly. However, it is rather tricky and this is one of the reasons why I believe age could be important (other than safety)

To run the conveyor belt you need to press the lower inside (right in below photo) and then to fire you need to press simultaneously the top trigger.

(The button on the left side releases the cartridge clip)

It is also rather large and heavy and, as seen below, you can see the size in comparison to James (who is a large child in 6/7 clothing)

William and James are both the same size but with William being that bit older and within the age restrictions he found the manoeuvring between triggers and the size a lot easier!

Overall we love it and it does make a great addition to our Nerf collection. The rapid firing is great and we were all surprised at how quick it worked despite knowing this from the description and although there are 25 darts available the chamber has room for more! (or, like us, use another chamber)

It does make our play time more fun but with William being more able, James did become a rather easy target! I think we need to at least get something similar for him as he is still using slower release guns but I can still see us having hours of fun in the meantime!

The RRP is £49.99 but this does vary at some retailer's which you can find here

Safety!

Fires darts up to 90 feet (27 meters) - with the power to fire up to 27 meters and its quick loading I would not fire this to closely towards peoples faces or eyes!

Caution to Eyes - I know I just said this above but that was with the power behind it. I want to also state DO NOT use Nerf darts towards face and eyes.

Only use Nerf Darts - This is straightforward. It is a Nerf gun so please use the other products provided and not anything else!

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARDSmall parts may be generated. Not for children under 3 years.

(I was given this product for free to review. My opinions are my own and I am under no obligations to give a positive review! Please see my full disclosure at the bottom of my blog)
