Review - Star Wars Bladebuilders - Spin Action Lightsaber

We were really excited to be asked to review the Star Wars BladeBuilders from Hasbro!

Star Wars Bladebuilders are a range from Hasbro that allow children to connect, explore and play a various different roles within the star wars universe or to even become their own force filled hero!

Within the packaging you will find an extendable lightsaber, 2 connective points, a 360 degree spinning hilt and a small lightsaber adaption.

So lets break it down and have a look at each bit:

Lightsaber

The extendable quick flick light saber is brilliant for all budding Jedi and Sith out there. It retracts into a smaller frame and moves itself out in a quick and easy motion to defend yourself from attack.

On the side of the base you have buttons available to activate the light component inside! But be careful that you don't have a secret Sith lord in the mix!

As you can see the light is effective, especially in darker spaces!

360 Spinning Hilt

The circular designed hilt allows for different attachments to be included.

Each attachment has a simple screw and click action so it is easy for children young and old to play independently.

The centre of the circular hilt has a switch that can lock and unlock the mechanism that creates the 360 degree movement. It also only rotated one way so you could swap hands and have the same movement. That being said I found it rather clumsy to use, as did both of the boys, but with time the actions were easier to manipulate.

Once switched and locked you end up with a highly adapted lightsaber that can defend you from all types of attacks and designed to your own want.

Attachments

Blade builders are literally the thing that makes this toy special. The bottom end of the builder has the screw top that fits perfectly upon the hilt and the top end as the easy to screw fitting too; this potentially adds length, structure and shape.

The central button allows a 90 degree twist function that makes the builder go from straight to  right angled.

I love this feature. It continues the imaginative play and advances it to the next level! This coupled with the hilt means that both child and adult alike can become a different character with a different defensive weapon!

With 8 possible designs within each package you can see that hours of fun can be had!

William especially favoured the dual ended saber!

BUT, now imagine that you have 2 of these boxes or 2 lightsabers! The building just continues and so does the personalised design. (A few extra can be seen below)

I and the boys both loved these and I can see that we all can have hours of fun playing with them. I can see this being a favourite in the run up to Christmas for any Star Wars fan.

The downside is that it does need 3 AAA batteries and although we haven't yet tested the power usage I would wonder how long they would last and more so if you are using more than one lightsaber. But, that is my adult boring side talking; the fun side is about to go an defend the galaxy from the peril that is Darth Jamesous ;)

It is currently RRP is £44.99 but this does vary at some retailer's.

(I was given this product for free to review. My opinions are my own and I am under no obligations to give a positive review! Please see my full disclosure at the bottom of my blog)
