Review- Foame

We were recently asked to review a new construction toy called Foame; Initially I was a little unsure exactly what they were but I am so pleased we agree to review them!

Foame is a selection of unique shaped soft but durable foam construction shapes. Originally a bath toy these evolved to a general construction toy for children aged 3 years and up.

They are quite different compared to other construction toys due to the unique foam shapes as well as their soft structure which, might I add, makes a nice change of treading on hard blocks!

Working on an interlocking system each piece either overlaps or fits through the open square sections.

Along with each packet you also have a range of plans and ideas to construct different objects and structures. The boys and I were pretty excited to try some of these out.

Viking Ships 1 and 2

Speed Boat

Sailing Ship

Palm Tree

There were a lot more different available that allows an adventure and fun in every model made with a simple click, fit and push and a new piece was made.

Like any good construction toy the best is often making the shapes fit together that make something from imagination; Foame toys are no different!

William made a simple elephant with 2 pieces.

He also made a robot with a man riding on top.

James made a super sword.

Admittedly I was a little sceptical when I first saw these. I thought that despite the 3+ a guidelines that older children may become a little bored and want to find something more engaging but I was wrong. William, 7, was obsessed and wanting to sit and construct more and more different designs and, of course, some from his own imagination.

The added bonus for the material and clever design means that they can be both general bath toys and fun for hours.

From an educational point of view I really appreciate that this toy is designed specifically to develop a child's cognitive, social, perception and problem-solving skills and all through play as well as being a refreshing new approach to building as well as fun for the for the whole family!
