Review - Jord Wooden Mens Watch

On my 18th birthday my mum presented me with a watch. It looked initially just like any other watch but on the back it was engraved to say “A Good Man should always have a Good Watch”.
I remember getting it quite clearly and my mum saying that men don’t wear much jewellery and because of that you can find a lot out about the ones that do. She said there are four main accessories that decorate man; a nice watch, a stylish pair of cuff links, a wedding band and, if religious, a cross.

A man wearing a ring will tell you that they are committed to someone and wear a ring as a promise to that fact.
A pair of cuff links shows that a man has taken extra care at the way he dresses.

A cross shows that a man has faith and showing a moral heart.
And, finally, a decent watch shows that he is aware of his responsibilities and tries hard to keep to them.

I loved this and as a coming of age it was an important landmark to be presented with a one of these features that show a good quality of a man.
I cherished that watch for that very reason but over time it got scratched, dented, worn down and finally a crack across the screen. On that day I took my watch off and kept it safe but I didn’t replace it. I don’t know why I hadn’t got a new one I just never got round to it when life keeps you so busy.

I was pleased then when Jord offered us a chance here to review one of their unique wooden watches!

Jord is a team of designers and artists who have come together to create stylish watches for both men and women. A company that is based out in the US they have found a way to make each timepiece into a cool watch; something that a lot of people here in the UK are aware of!

A company that can ship all over the world and can usually deliver in 7-12 days to UK customers. Shipping is completely free right now for the holidays which is an added bonus too! You can also get $25 off any watch if you purchase it via here.
Ultimately they are a team that believes “The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time.” Something I am sure my mum would have liked to hear!

I had seen these watches a few times and had thought that they were beautiful but I don’t think you can really appreciate the beauty of the watch until you have one in your hands!

The watch came sat on a lovely hessian cushion and in a beautifully presented wooden and engraved box which added to quality and love put into the piece.
I did take some time to choose the Ebony and Rosewood within the Dover series but that was aided by the fact that their site gives you a little background on the wood that is used. For example, Ebony (Ceylon - Diospyros ebenum) found in east Africa is described as a hard wood that makes it challenging to work with but it produces a high saturation of colour with a natural glossy sheen. Whereas the Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) is found in Brazil and can vary in colour from a darker chocolate brown to a lighter purplish or reddish brown, with darker contrasting streaks

Together the contrast colours and wood made me feel that I was getting a high quality watch.
Each link is made of wood as well as the outer casing of the watch face.

The inside and the back are both exposed to show the clever metal mechanism that keeps this artwork going.
The watch then has a simple clip pin at the back for easy access on and off of the wrist.

Why a Wooden Watch?
There are two main factors that make Jord’s Wooden Wristwatch stand out:

1. How light they are.
2. A one off unique watch.

With the watch primarily made from wood it is surprisingly light compared to other watches, especially for the size of the watch!
Yet, the fact that it is made from wood is what gives it the unique quality. Due to the grain in the wood each section, each link and piece is different from any other so no two watches could ever be the same!

I think these watches are perfect for both men and women any time of the year but I know with Christmas coming up that it would make a brilliant gift! For more information please click on some of the links provided.

Don't forget to have a chance to get $25 off a watch of your choice too!
