My Little Chef - Tagliatelle Carbonara

Following on with our pasta topic William wanted to get to making some recipes along with using our homemade pasta!

After watching a show with Rick Stein (William's new hero!) he decided that he wanted to make a carbonara!

Ingredients

200g Smoked Bacon
Mushrooms
3 Medium Eggs
75ml Double Cream
Pepper and Salt
Pasta - Tagliatelle

We had already started the pasta by making some of our own although this isn't necessary!

Using a cutting board and sharp knife William sliced the mushrooms into "chunks" and placed them on the side.

He then cut the smokey bacon into pieces. He tried to cut them into squares where possible.

In a bowl William added 3 eggs, 75ml of cream and a pinch of salt and pepper.

He then whisked the contents to create a consistently smooth sauce.

William then added the bacon to the frying pan until it had almost cooked, he then added the mushrooms and carried on cooking until soft.

Fresh pasta takes between 3 - 4 minutes to cook in hot water so you have to make sure that you don't over cook it. Once added and cooked he left it to drain.

Now, in everything we have watched and read about it has suggested that the pasta gets added to the food and sauce. With that in mind, William added the pasta.

Then he added the cream sauce and stirred and mixed the 3 contents together!

On completion we served up our carbonara and added cheese on top!

This was really easy and straightforward and didn't take William that long at all! The added bonus of using freshly made pasta really made a difference to the whole dish!

I know there are elements that probably doesn't make this a full carbonara but it is definitely a pretty good replica!

What do you think? Will you give this a go?
