Mother's Day 2017 - My Top 5 Mum Blogs!

I don’t talk about my mum much; I probably should but even after this time I still find it quite painful.
She was stern, hard and a force to be reckoned with. She came across as stubborn, strong willed and quite interfering.

Then there was her sweet and loving side. She would do absolutely anything for anyone even if that meant that she had to go the extra mile to help you out and show you that she cares.
Just before Christmas I opened up a little about the fact that I was adopted. Before I found my family I experienced what a bad mum truly was like. From knowing that as a child to then having a woman who literally defines the true meaning of what a mum should be shows a great comparison and it is because of this that I can spot the amazing mums a mile off!

In previous years to celebrate good mums and in respect of my mums wishes I have sent people flowers. However, this year I was going to do the same but apparently due to some negativity I haven’t.
So, instead, I decided that I would highlight my 5 top Mum bloggers.

Donna is a mum to Athena, 5 and Troy, 3. I had the pleasure of meeting both Donna and the children last year and one thing that was strong from meeting them in person and through learning about them on her blog is how wonderfully polite and happy they both are.

They have a smile on their face, always inquisitive and seem to have so much fun! This, for me, shows the type of mum that Donna is. A reflection of the children’s happiness is always found in and from good parenting and this was obviously the case. The effort that she puts into work to provide a better life for her children and still offer such wonderful experiences makes her a fantastic mum in my books!

2. Natalie Plutoniumsox
Natalie is a mum to two girls Libby, 4 and Lia 2. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting the girls but I have met Natalie and she is exactly the same as she is online, which makes me believe that the girls must be too.

Both girls manage to enjoy lots of different activities throughout the week, month and year. If you are a fan of her blog then you would know that her Thursday photo posts usually encapsulates the week in the life of the girls and what always amazes me is how much they have achieved. Natalie somehow manages to juggle all these different extra-curricular activities with work and blogging and does it with style, even when her Hubby had an accident and was out of action. It is for that reason why I think she is an amazing mum and deserves the recognition here.

3. Stephanie A Cornish Mum Blog
Stephanie is a mum to two boys Fin, 13 and Harley, 11. Although you will find a lot of Cornwall themed posts, as her blog name suggests, the mum aspect sneaks in and when it does you see what an outstanding mum she is.

Fin has Type 1 diabetes and it is heart-breaking to read what he goes through. I have spoken to her when she has been up all night monitoring him and then dealing with the ups and downs that a hormonal teen would go through. As parents we know we would do anything for our children but when you are in a position like this you often have to dig deep and pull out all of the strength to push through especially when you still have to parent another child too!

4. Julie Picking Up Toys
Julie is a mum of 3, two boys aged 18 and 7 and a girl aged 4. Julie is another working mum that in itself is something that I deeply respect but to do that with children in completely different life stages is amazing. I have nothing but respect for a woman who can work full time, deal with a teenager and organise 2 primary aged children!

The thing I most admire is Julie’s honesty; if she is struggling with an aspect of parenting then she will talk about it and more often than not show that she is at a loss at what to do. In some weird way this highlights why she is an amazing mum! She, like any great parent, muddles her way through the highs and lows and still puts her very best foot forward; frontline problem solving parenting at its best!

Ember is a mum to 2 girls, Eva, 6 and Izzy 2. I have known Ember now for about 9 months and in that short period of time she has shown what a great mum she is. The thing about Ember that is often not found spoken massively about is her disability and rubbish health. As a parent with equally rubbish health I can see and know how difficult it can be to do even the basic day to day parenting duties yet she manages to!

I have had the pleasure to meet her a few times now and to call her a friend but I also see a lot of myself in her. She might not always get it right, or might want to hide on the rubbish days but she gets up and does whatever she can for her girls and that alone deserves nothing but respect and mum points!

There are hundreds of mums that I could have featured in this post. All who have different parenting techniques but I think these 5 remind me more of my mum. They show hard work and determination, love, kindness and respect, stubborn attitude and importantly, doing everything in their power to be the best mum that they can be!
Whatever you beautiful and wonderful mums are up to I hope it is a fantastic day!

Ah thanks for including me Mr K! So when you say I was the same in person as online, you mean you hate me just as much in the flesh right? Ah well, at least I'm consistent!
