My Sunday Photo 05/11/17

I have always enjoyed drawing; for me it is something to let my stress and frustration out in a positive and creative way.

A couple of years ago I dedicated a few months to drawing and since then I haven't picked up my pencils.

Yet, recently I have been under a lot of stress juggling looking after Dad, taking him to his different therapies, parenting, work and home education. I needed something to escape into and once again thought I would draw.

Each drawing is usually large and fits on a A3 sheet of paper and I use a selection of shaded pencils. I thought I would share the productivity in my madness and see what you think!

The Owl

I had a Owl idea in my head for a while so thought I would try that first.

Although it started quite basic the final piece, below, took a total 13 hours to complete.

Final Fantasy: Edea

Last weekend was my lovely Hannah's birthday. I wanted to give her something personal so thought I would gift her one of my drawings; her favourite Final Fantasy character, Edea.

This was the first picture I've done with special pencils that help shade in colour. I was quite wary but am pleased with how it turned out. The picture took 9.5 hours in total to finish!

I have a few ideas for what is next. The important thing though is the time I'm taking for myself to create something positive.

I couldn't agree more about finding time for art Martyn. So often our time is taken up but it's important to de-stress and do something that is just for you and takes you away from everything. Art is brilliant for that. Your drawings are great and I hope it's started the creative spark and your stress will diminish. Enjoy and I'll look forward to seeing more creations :D

Excellent Martyn! I am one of those people who would love to able to draw, but what's in my hand can't portray what's in my head. I do like to doodle though and find that therapeutic. Never stop creating!

What wonderful pictures. You have talent. I loved both versions of the owl picture. I find taking time with art the most wonderful way to deal with stress. Turning a negative into a positive. For me it is needlefelting. I can start cross, but by the end I'm enveloped in calm. (When my children see me needefelting they always ask what's upset me.) I've never added up the hours! #MySundayPhoto
