A Week Improving the Garden

With the weather now really turning out nice and the fact that we are having more sunny days the boys and I are more focused this year to be out in the garden and have it as a little sanctuary.

Last year when we moved here we did a massive clear out in the garden and cut back everything that had over grown.

At that point covered what we could and hoped that when spring came back round that we wouldn't have to do too much; thankfully we were right!

The mix of lining and spare off cuts of carpet we covered our flower beds and had very little to do; we all pitched in to clear what remained.

It took us most of the morning to clear everything but the majority of that was tidying up

Then boys, being boys, we spent time and finding every mini creature and rehousing them to our mini beast hotel!

With the majority of the weeds dug, removed and binned it was time to finally clean all of the yard and dig over the flower beds ready for planting.

I am lucky here as I had a friend come and help us!

Finally, we laid some lining and placed some woodchip and gravel down.

(Ignore the carpet pile.....that will be removed this week!)
I am so pleased that we spent time doing this as it means that we can finally get out there and be productive. We are planning to plant flowers as well as all of our vegetables.
With the sun out more I hope with the garden sorted we will spend more time out there and fulfil our wish list.
Have you been out in the garden this week? Is it ready for the warmer weather?
