Our Blog Review 2016

The festivities are done, we have all eaten too much and the year is currently ending!
It is officially the season when we bloggers review the year that we have had. Isn’t it weird though that when you are sat thinking about the year and you think it has been pretty uneventful and “normal” and you have nothing to write about and yet when you sat and you list it out you find that it has been pretty awesome!

Now is one of those moments!
*Warning* this post may seem all braggy but it really isn’t intended to be! I just sat and wrote and was amazed that these things happened to me!

Firstly, what you don’t know, is that the one steady thing this entire year has been all of you! You, thankfully, have been there at every step of my life and before I really get into anything I must acknowledge that I have done it all with you fabulous lot by my side.
I have made some really close friendships through this blog and that is something that I am incredibly grateful for.  Especially the likes of Natalie, who has commented on EVERY post this year....in fairness comically with a troll like tendency but I have loved it, she is an amazing friend! I also can't forget Ember who has been an amazing friend, Alan, Julie, Mrs A who is always around, Sally, Lisa and Mandy who are always around to make me laugh!

At the start of 2016 I had no idea what I was faced with but whatever came my way, good or bad, with the Boys or just my personal life, you have been there with me.
This blog has grown massively this year, way beyond anything that I could have imagined.

January came round quite quickly and it was quite the month!
At the start I met with celebrity photographer, Harry Borden. He was doing a photo shoot and collection of Single Parents and wanted to include us. This was an amazing experience and despite the fact that I felt uncomfortable it showed a side of me, the true parenting me, and I loved the photos for that very reason!

At the end of the month was a blog meet up!
Myself and Nat from Diary of an unexpectant Mum organised a social event for bloggers called CBM16. It was more of a social gathering and getting to know you session than a learning event but I thought that it was brilliant!

I loved meeting Dave as well as many others!

As well as Carla, who has become one of my favourite people in and out of blogging.

Who would have thought that I would organise a blogging event, get different contributors and with that different collaborations! It seemed to go so well that others have asked for it again….so CBM17 is coming soon!
My blogging world seemed to just carry on as always and we come to June!

June, just like January, was an amazing month.
We can’t not mention the fact that I was nominated for an Award at Britmums Live; little old me being nominated! This then went on with the announcement that I had made the final listings for the MAD Awards later in the year!

I was so shocked! I knew that I had you wonderful people around to support me but the fact that you nominated me, and then voted me again for finalists really meant the world to me!
BML16 was amazing!

I met with some of my favourite people as well as meeting with people that I had been fan boying for a while!
Stevie has been a fav of mine for a long time. She was just as lovely, and bearded ;) in person.
As well as Donna who has been a rock of loveliness.
To top this off I somehow got nominated to sort the food out for 50 bloggers! Which, to my surprise, I managed to do! 25 people at Nandos and 25 at Pizza Express! I still to this day have no idea how I did this but I was pleased that I could add to the event for many!

June was also my TV debut when I featured in a documentary with Myleene Klass. It was a fantastic experience and I am so pleased that I had that opportunity!
The summer rolled round and I plodded along although did love the summer meet up that Donna had organised!

September became another fabulous month when I attended the Finals of the MAD Awards. It didn’t matter that I didn’t win, just being there, nominated, was fantastic!!
Other highlights of my year was being featured in 2 different magazines, especially Nursery World. There have also been several radio interviews although being featured on the Jeremy Vine show discussing Home Ed was a real highlight!

My Social Media has grown too!
Twitter started off with 4,000 followers and I have grown to 10.8k which seems a bit mental!

Instagram has grown from 1,300 followers and has grown to 9,720! The best part is that I spent time growing my IG and with that I achieved an amazing 10% interaction and had over 1,000 likes and comments! Although, admittedly, that has dropped to 5% but it is still pretty awesome!
Finally, we have ended the year with being ranked 6th out of the Dad bloggers in Tots100 which is amazing to be amongst the fantastic dad bloggers out there!

Obviously there has been some negativity in blogging this year but I don’t want, or can be bothered, to focus on that.

This year has been incredible and, as stated at the beginning, I couldn’t have done it without any of you! I decided to list my 5 top posts (from the 316 i have published) all of which have been read by over 3,000 people! (Who would have thought that would ever happen? I couldn't believe it when i saw, I am truly thankful!)
This I can say all comes down to you all. Thank you for reading about my life, my world, the Boys and about Home Schooling.  You have all taken the time to get to know us and actually support all three of us in different ways because of this we can never truly say Thank you.

We really do hope you have a fantastic New Year coming up and get all the love and blessings that you deserve.
