Out of the Mouth of Babes #22

This last week we have had a lot of Mum related conversations.

It is difficult at times to handle some of the conversations but there are some moments that make me chuckle.
I love our co-parenting arrangement and for the last 18 months it has been going very well. We have a good routine in place and the boys seem to have settled within it.

Do you know her?

On handover last week James felt that it was necessary to do some introductions:

James: “Hi Daddy, what we doing?”
Me: “Daddy is just going to finish talking about you two and we will start Home Ed”
James: “Oh, okay. Daddy?”
Me: “Yeah, what’s wrong?”
James: “This is Mummy. She’s our Mummy”
Me: “I know. I know who your Mummy is"
(Mummy does a little laugh)
James: “But how do you know her?”

Me: “Well, for a start, we have been doing this mummy and daddy thing for a while now. And, we knew each other when we were both at school which was a long time ago. Then we were married and then we decided to be your mummy and daddy”
James: “Oh. I never knew”

Well I am pleased to have cleared that up!

My Pen Pal

We had just finished Home Ed for the morning and the boys had some free exploring to do. James usually goes off and plays but this instance he sat there and carried on writing.
Me:  “James, what are you doing?”
James: “Writing to my Pen Pal”
(Looking rather confused)
Me: “Oh, you have a pen pal?”
James: “Yeah, its Mummy. I like to write her letters and post them through the door when she isn’t looking”
Me: “Aw, that’s lovely. Is that how you tell Mummy all the wonderful things you do?”
James: “No, It is mostly what I want to eat and telling her off for the things I don’t like her doing”

Poor Mummy!
A Singer and a Poet
We often try to burst into song in our house. It could be everyday tasks or something we have seen. I am not sure why we do this but we always have.

I was in the kitchen doing the washing up and I heard James singing and went to investigate.
James: “I love my Mummy. I love my Mummy because she is funny. I love my Mummy even with her fat tummy. But it isn’t as big as S* (Mummy’s boyfriend)
Think I will skip this lovely song when we communicate in hand over!
