Little Astronaut Kit with Geo Journey - Review and Win

“With hard work and perseverance, it’s possible to do what I’ve done”
Astronaut Stephanie Wilson

James is always a difficult kid to buy presents for because he doesn’t have any real interests that I can name despite being a happy child who likes lots of different little things rather than themed items.
One thing that does stand out for him is his ambitions to become something and someone of importance. He will list that he wants to be a police officer, fireman, mad scientist and an astronaut and I would honestly support any and all of these if that is his wish. Yet, sometimes, it is difficult to match these great ambitions with presents around birthdays especially for a 6 year old!
I was, of course, pleased when we were contacted by Geo Journey to review their Little Astronaut kit as part of their Space Journey products.

Geo Journey is a range of activity kits for little adventurers that help inspire children to learn about the world and more! Of which, they allow little explorers aged 4 – 10 to learn and have fun with their own Explorer Kit of a suitcase, travel journal, world map, passport and all the tools they need to track the travels of the fun and lively characters Geo and Atlas.
Geo an Owl and Atlas a friendly Labrador are characters that feature within all of the kit series to plot and travel with you and your children. With this they will write to your child every month from a different country, or in our case planet, and send them a fact-filled letter, souvenirs, activities, photos, postcards and stickers.
We received the starter kit which had all of the above items along with the suitcase, wristband and poster of the solar system to help exploration along the way.
Upon opening the kits there were some instant and striking points to see.
The suitcase is of a firm and sturdy fabric material and feels and looks like a classic travelling case with handle and buckle clip with a child friendly and engaging logo and design on the side!
The kit, although part of a subscription series, gave instant entertainment and engagement with some simple but exciting features like the explorer wristband and relevant activity book that offered a crossword, spot the difference, puzzle and quiz.

Although you can instantly use the passport, mission log book and stickers there are limitations without the subscription to further the fun and education. However, the opportunity and potential learning is limitless and can be used in multiple ways to gain age appropriate and independent knowledge alongside the pack.
The mission log book is bright, colourful and engaging for different ages. It lists details of planets, interactive features like sticker placement and postcard/photo areas as well as space for individual writing. Then add to the astronaut kit over time with cool planet packs packed with travel goodies and there's even a fun souvenir from each planet such as space sunglasses and astronaut food!
To then accompany this with a passport where you can place planet stickers along the way once you have completed that planet allows a reward and enjoyment factor that you wouldn’t necessarily with other products!
There is also the possibility to personalise your gift by adding your child's name. All letter envelopes are hand written with your child's name and stamped with puppy paw prints to add a personal touch. I’m sure if your child/ren are anything like mine then they would love receiving their very own mail each month.
HOW SUBSCRIPTIONS WORK
1. Order your Geo Journey or Space Journey subscription from November.  Geo Journey lasts 12 months and Space Journey lasts 10 months.
2. Receive your Little Explorer Kit OR Little Astronaut Kit complete with suitcase, journal, passport, map and activities in time to give as a fantastic Christmas present.  Kits are posted out in early December.
3. Every month from January child will receive post from Geo and Atlas as they journey around the solar system.
On top of this, every week, they add facts, figures, pictures and competitions to their Facebook page where you can join the Facebook community and keep in touch!
Helping the Pandas
I always enjoy seeing companies that try to support important environmental and conservation initiatives and Geo Journey do exactly that. Pandas International is dedicated to ensuring the preservation and propagation of the seriously endangered Giant Panda.
When Geo and Atlas send you your gift from China (a cuddly Panda), Pandas International will receive £4 from them.
James absolutely loved this kit and inspired and intrigued the little adventurer inside him and made his ambitions become more of a reality!
The educational factors are spot on and appropriate to the point that just receiving this has meant that we are going to explore further in our Home Education as a full terms topic! Geo Journey also offer products for schools!
Fun, inspiring, educational and engaging and all of great quality! What isn’t there to love about that? It was a perfect birthday present for James and I can see this can be a popular gift for all young explorers! More importantly this has given James a step forward towards being able to do anything.

(I was given this product for free to review. My opinions are my own and I am under no obligations to give a positive review. The want to be an astronaut and using my child as an excuse has nothing to do with my like of the product. Please see my full disclosure at the bottom of my blog)

I love this, my girls are really into the idea of being astronauts too. I think it's because Tim Peake was such a personality when he was in space, he has inspired an entire generation. If I could go anywhere in the world I think I'd go to Madagascar.
